Jason A. Kaplan, M.D.

Dr. Kaplan earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Franklin and Marshall College. His medical degree was earned at the University of Maryland. He completed his ophthalmology residency at The Friedenwald Eye Institute in Baltimore. He then went on to complete retinal fellowships at the University of Texas and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kaplan is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the America Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Kaplan comes to us from the National Retina Institute where he was an attending surgeon and he trained numerous retinal fellows in medical and surgical vitreoretinal disease. He has lectured extensively on numerous topics including retinal detachment, vaso-occlusive diseases, and retinal inflammation. Dr. Kaplan’s area of specialization includes macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, ocular inflammation and infection, and laser surgery. He has articles published in the Ophthalmic literature on a variety of retinal topics. As a retina surgeon and specialist Dr. Kaplan individualizes his treatment for each of his patients and treats each patient as if they were his family member. He has special interest in feeder vessel treatment for patients with macular degeneration. He is married and has two beautiful daughters. In his free time, Dr. Kaplan enjoys skiing, cruising, and spending time with his family.
